Genetic Denim held their Spring 2010 Presentation from 6-9pm on September 11, 2009. The presentation was titled “The Dreaming Tree,” an ancient Persian proverb.
“A TREE THAT BEARS FRUIT BENDS OVER.
A TREE THAT BEARS NOTHING STANDS STRAIGHT UP.”
“A TREE THAT BEARS FRUIT BENDS OVER.
A TREE THAT BEARS NOTHING STANDS STRAIGHT UP.”
When I arrived, I saw models wearing Genetic Denim jeans within The Dreaming Tree setting. The leaves of The Dreaming Tree were made of the fabric that makes Genetic Denim the softest denim in the industry. “Our fabric is key to the core of Genetic Denim, and our goal for this presentation is to create a personal connection to this core,” explains Creative Director Ali Fatourechi. “We are promoting touch and a connection with nature, a sensorial experience.”
One of the inspirations for the collection is Yoko Ono and her promotion of peace, especially through Ono’s Cut Piece, in which “one room of The Dreaming Tree allowed guests to literally cut off a piece of denim clothing off a person’s body. This one act simultaneously evokes feelings of peace, delicate touch, vulnerability and eroticism – four feelings that illustrate the inspirations behind the Spring 2010 collection.”
Of all the presentations I’ve been to, this one really allows you to feel what the inspiration is. It was such an artistic landscape and perspective, with the leaves of The Dreaming Tree delicate and soft to the touch. The other room had 3 models standing amongst hanging crystal drops, which resembled raindrops.
I especially liked the edgy, worn look of the grey skinny jean with destruction and whiskering and the feminine all-over lace grey skinny jean. The jeans seem flattering on the body and look extremely sexy and comfortable.
