On November 11th, I joined American Heritage Chocolate® from the Historic Division of Mars, for an exclusive breakfast at Federal Hall National Memorial at 15 Pine Street.
While indulging in French toast and chocolate sauce, I learned about Colonial chocolate-making and enjoyed a presentation by Rodney Snyder, Chocolate History Research Director of Mars Chocolate North America.
Chocolate has been woven through the fabric of American culture for centuries.
Its rich history is intertwined in the stories of our founding fathers, and ultimately,

® is rich in cocoa, mildly spicy, and slightly sweet, flavored with a blend of spices, including cinnamon, nutmeg, chili pepper, orange and vanilla.
I also learned about American Heritage Chocolate
® products, which are available in three formats:
- Chocolate Sticks: single sticks, 12 grams each for $1.50 or four sticks in a muslin bag for $7.00
- Chocolate Block: one 145.4 gram chocolate block, perfect for grating or shaving, with accompanying recipes for $10.
- Finely Grated Chocolate Drink: Eight 45-gram Powdered Drink Mix packets in a muslin bag for $20.
® is sold nationally at fine gift shops at historic sites and museums such as Colonial Williamsburg, Mount Vernon, Fort Ticonderoga, Monticello and The Smithsonian.
