On February 22nd, I attended Contorno's Restaurant opening and media tasting at 30 West 31st Street (between 5th and Broadway) inside the new boutique Holiday Inn Express. Guests sampled Rustic Italian style small plates from the menu, by executive chef David Buico, and paired their plates with featured wines. My favorite plates are the Old Fashion Veal Meatballs, Shrimp Al Pancha and Homemade Fettuccine. The desserts - a Milk Chocolate & Pistachio Tart and a New York Cheese Cake are both amazing!
Contorno's has an open layout, with seating for up to 110 guests. The Contorno's staff provided amazing, friendly service, making sure everyone had a chance to try each of the small plates.
Contorno's holds Wine Flight Tuesdays each week, in which GM/Sommelier Marta Cisneros leads customers in sampling a red or white wine flight from a different region, and helping them learn about the wine and how to pair it with different dishes. A late night bar menu and weekly Happy Hour Special from 4:30-6:30 has recently been introduced, with all house wine, well drinks and beer for just $5.
