EMERSON by Jackie Fraser-Swan Fall 2013

After a weekend of snow on a cold, late Sunday evening, young fashion savvy darlings gathered at Lincoln Center to attend the show of a young up-and- coming designer, Jackie Fraser-Swan, based in Boston’s Newbury Street shopping district. "EMERSON” is Jackie’s middle name, as well as the name of one of her ancestors - philosopher and poet Ralph Waldo Emerson.

Jackie talks about how EMERSON encourages each woman to shamelessly indulge in her eccentric side. The Fall 2013 Collection is inspired by the 90s, with a dark but feminine touch. There was a focus on plaids, tweeds, leather, metallic purples, grays, black, and splashes of yellow and red. Shirt dresses with peter pan collars, leather panels as contrast and pleated skirts were main components. The looks were completed with a bold cat-eye, loose ponytails and elaborate nail art.

I truly admire the juxtaposition of soft femininity, which you can see in all of her collections. That is what defines her brand and makes it fun and daring.
