Diwali, widely known as the festival of lights and the most popular Asian-Indian festival, is coming to Times Square on September 22nd. The international initiative to promote Indian culture, heritage, tourism and diversity is the first Diwali celebration at this location since Times Square became an event-friendly space.
Diwali at Times Square will take place from 11am to 6pm, followed by the ‘Light Up Times Square’ concert which will showcase live performances from some of the biggest names in South Asian entertainment. Festival highlights will include South Asian inspired cuisine, an autograph and photograph booth where attendees can meet some of South Asia’s most notable celebrities, sari draping lessons, caricature drawing with ethnic twists and an entertainment stage with dance performances and lessons in traditional Indian dance styles, including Bollywood.
