EMERSON by Jackie Fraser-Swan Fall 2014 at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week

Thanks to Fashionably Petite, I attended the EMERSON by Jackie Fraser-Swan on Friday night. It was the kick-off to my fashion week and it was the perfect start. This was my first EMERSON show and it was great to be sitting next to one of my blogging friends. The show was in The Pavilion of Lincoln Center, which I must say is now one of my fave venues because there is no bad seat.

Designer Jackie Fraser-Swan (whose middle name is Emerson) delivered a couture rockstar in love type of collection. Music by The Misshapes set the mood. She expertly mixes rough with feminine in an effortless way. Her collection’s main theme was ‘break the mold’ and I loved her intro to the show which was a special effect of her name breaking through the glass. Not to mention, I would love her sweater that also had the words ‘Break the Mold’ that a model wore down the runway. I really liked how she mixed soft with hard…like soft pinks or sheer blacks with harder pieces like sequined pants or structured silhouettes. And every look was complimented with a pair of Doc Martens (which gave all of the looks the right amount of edge). The one look that really stood out for me was this black sequined puffer jumpsuit with a belt. Not only was it different because it’s a black sequined puffer jumpsuit, but I could certainly use one with these freezing temps.

I am definitely looking forward to EMERSON’s Spring collection next season!
