On Thursday, November 16th, I attended the Housing Works Fashion for Action benefit and VIP hour, at the Housing Works flagship shop in Chelsea. Guests sipped cocktails and shopped nearly $2 million in donated merchandise, all marked 50-70% off retail.
Co-chairs included Patricia Field, Eric Javits, Alex Olson and Todd Snyder, with hosts Mickey Boardman and Bevy Smith. Closet Curators included Preston Konrad, Natalie Kates, Iskra Lawrence, Mia Moretti, Alex Olson, Luanna Perex-Garreaud, Todd Snyder and Mara Hoffman.
There was an incredible amount of brands and deals, including Opening Ceremony, Calvin Klein, Michael Kors, Rachel Zoe and United Nude, with a lot of price points spotted at $35, $65 and $125. Shopping was arranged by designer, making it easier to find your favorite brands, and the Housing Works staff was on hand and extremely helpful. I was excited to have gotten a Golden Goose Deluxe Brand orange silk top for $35 and Design Lab sequin leggings for $15! For making any purchase, shoppers also received a free aerie beanie hat with removable pom.
As with the start of any sale, it's always better to get there early to get the best selection. By the time I got there, a half hour after the VIP hour had started, the shopping party was well in full swing, and it got more and more crowded within the hour. This was my first Fashion for Action event I have attended and I definitely can't wait for the next one!
