Taoray Wang Fall/Winter 2018, entitled Enlightenment Empress is inspired by Catherine the Great, Empress
of Russia. The monarch was a patron of the arts, culture, and education and
became the country’s longest-ruling female leadrer during the Russian Age of
Enlightenment.
Enlightment Empress
combines the classic with the modern, the East and West, reinterpreting the
military uniform and iconic olive-green with striking shades of red which
embody the Russian spirit. The military uniform is transformed to fit the
modern woman, with feminine fur epaulets detailing, and the softening of bold
lines.
I love the mix of sheer lace detailing, navy pinstripes, red
accents, leather belts and oversized bows for strong, yet edgy suiting.
